Locked at all times — but open for real customers
Pawn shop — two locations · West 35th Street · Manhattan
A pawn shop has to keep its door locked at all times — for insurance and safety. We set up remote access so staff stay secure and still buzz in genuine customers.

01 · The situation
Pawn shops are required to keep their doors locked at all times — both for insurance and to cut robbery risk. The challenge is doing that without turning away legitimate business: you still have to let real customers in. This operator ran two stores on 35th Street that needed to stay locked down while still admitting scheduled, genuine customers.
02 · What we weighed
Employee safety came first: staff had to control exactly who enters and when, with no way for someone to simply walk in off the street. But it also had to be practical for daily business — buzzing in booked appointments quickly, across both locations, without a complicated system. We specced remote-operated access control paired with high-security locks, so the door stays secured by default and opens only when an employee chooses.
03 · The solution
At each of the two stores we installed remote-operated access control with two high-security locks, so employees can keep the entrance locked at all times and buzz in customers who arrive for scheduled appointments — all from inside, without approaching the door. Total for both locations: $3,200.
04 · The outcome
Both stores now stay locked down during business hours — keeping staff safe and satisfying insurance requirements — while legitimate customers still get in smoothly for their appointments. Controlled access across two locations, one clean install.
